Saliba still has two years left on his current deal, yet discussions with Real Madrid persist, particularly given their defensive lineup is facing injury issues.
Prior to his impactful tenure at Arsenal, the French player had a considerable stint on loan in Ligue 1. However, he has not yet begun negotiations for a new contract with the team.
“I’m really happy here,” he said via The Guardian. “Because we have some years [to go]. There is no rush at the minute. I want to win big things with Arsenal. If you leave this club without winning anything the fans will forget about you. I want to win big things here.”
Reportedly, Real Madrid has shown interest in the 23-year-old player with intentions to bring him aboard as a replacement for their aging defense line, according to Football London.
The ex-Saint-Etienne youth player might go up against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals if both teams progress beyond their Round of 16 matches.
He believes Arsenal has what it takes to win the Champions League this year.
“Absolutely, everybody aims to clinch the Champions League since it’s a tournament you follow from your younger years. The desire to triumph is strong as we understand how challenging it is to secure victory. We will leave nothing behind and embrace the fact that outcomes can be unpredictable,” he stated.
“If winning the Champions League isn’t something we believe in or aspire to achieve, then there’s really no reason for us to be out here playing. That’s our mindset.”

Arsenal has gone without winning the Premier League for 21 years and have never claimed Champions League victory throughout their history.
Saliba and his team, the Gunners, have narrowly missed out on clinching the title in the past couple of seasons despite coming close multiple times.
Should Real Madrid extend an offer, he would surely consider it. Being approached by such titans of the sport as Spain’s premier powerhouse would be hard to refuse.
They attracted his international teammate Kylian Mbappe without cost last summer, however, they must now prepare to shell out significantly to secure him from Arsenal.
According to Transfermarkt, he is valued at 80 million euros, which would make him one of the most expensive defenders ever.
He participated in 38 league matches during the previous season and has remained consistently present since the 2022/23 campaign.
