The National Secretariat of Risk Management (SNGR) reported that floodwaters caused damage to several structures and led to the collapse of a bridge.
The city of Loja, which has a population of 215,000 inhabitants, was one of the impacted regions. Officials cautioned about additional significant rain anticipated for Wednesday and advised citizens to stay vigilant.
While teams labored to remove rubble, residents prepared for possible additional floods in the Andean area close to the Peruvian frontier.
