Washington [US], March 15 (ANI): Apple TV+ has formally announced the renewal of its award-winning sitcom ‘Ted Lasso’ for a fourth season. Actor Jason Sudeikis will once again take on the lead role as Ted Lasso.
This announcement follows over a year of speculations regarding the show’s continuation, with Sudeikis’ decision to come back playing a crucial role in securing its renewed status.
The makers confirmed the news on their official social media handles.
“Ted Lasso has been nothing more than an unstoppable force, fostering a devoted global following and providing boundless delight and humor, while also promoting kindness, empathy, and unshakeable optimism,” stated Matt Cherniss, the head of programming at Apple TV+, in his announcement.
“We’re all excited at Apple to keep working with Jason and the talented team of creatives who bring this series to life,” as stated by him in The Hollywood Reporter.
The production group behind the series had earlier mentioned that their choice for a fourth season hinges on Sudeikis being open to carrying on with the project.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, during a recent interview, Sudeikis disclosed that in season four, Ted will mentor a female team. This development was foreshadowed in the last episode of season three.
Production on season four is expected to begin in the summer, with writers already working on the new season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s cast members such as Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift are anticipated to come back; however, Apple TV+ hasn’t formally announced any casting decisions beyond Ted Lasso himself, played by Jason Sudeikis.
‘Ted Lasso’ has achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success for Apple TV+, with the third season becoming the platform’s most watched series so far.
The show has also received many accolades, including multiple Emmy wins.
